In response to the killing of Sandra Bland by Houston police in July of 2015, I began drawing portraits of people of color who had lost their lives at the hands of law enforcement. I compiled 25 into a small book called Don’t Look Away. Each portrait is accompanied by a short description of the incident that led to the person’s murder.
Police terrorism is is a difficult and affecting reality, but it must be seen and confronted if it is to end. I stand with #blacklivesmatter and #nativelivesmatter.
